Questions. Clarity. Confidence.

Good Question

There’s no blanket yes or no. Palm Springs is our outdoor friendly collection with a resin finish for light and weather resistance.   Any leather left outside for prolonged periods can change. Tell us about the project and we’ll talk you through your options.

Yes.  Always.  Beautiful.  Natural.  Every Whistler range is real bovine leather, never faux or PU. Leather is a by-product of the beef and dairy industry.

In-stock is about 7-10 working days, product depending.  The clock starts once payment is received AND any CFA is approved. Embossing is made-to-order in about 3 weeks.  Bespoke samples will take 10-15 days.  New production runs about 5 weeks depending.

Most of our leathers are stocked in Italy with a one-hide minimum. As stock can fluctuate daily and within a day, let us check to confirm for you.

All Whistler leathers pass CAL TB117-2013, and most ranges also meet NFPA 260. Confirm the exact standard your project requires and we’ll be happy to confirm everything and get you needed certificates.

We quote in square feet and sell by the hide full hide.  Your upholsterer’s measurement is the guide and we suggest to add an allowance for cutting/wastage, more for anilines.

Guide to the hide

Real leather varies within a hide and between dye lots.  This is a natural product with natural markings that are a sign of authenticity, not a fault. We recommend a CFA for all aniline leathers.

Not entirely, and that’s part of what we love about leather.  Natural markings, growth lines and healed scars are inherent to genuine leather. Upon ordering, tell us what you are looking to do with the leather, and we can help guide you to the best leather for your specific project.

Unfortunately we do not.  A quote is a quote, and the leather is secured once your order and payment have been received.  Inventory can fluctuate daily or within the day, and we like to keep it flowing.  We will always have stock moving, coming and going so when you are ready, we will confirm with you.

Dust regularly, blot spills rather than rubbing, and keep it out of prolonged sun and direct heat. Protected leathers wipe clean with a lightly damp cloth whereas aniline leathers require leather-specific products. We send a care guide out with every order.

Whistler is to-the-trade only. Send back the New Client Trade Application Form and we will be in touch to welcome you.  If you’re already set up in our system we can proceed straight away.

Whistler sells strictly to the trade (designers, workrooms, manufacturers) only.  Direct-to-consumer only happens as a rare, approved exception.  Need a designer?  We can find one for you.

US orders are billed in USD.  UK orders are billed in GBP.

Cheque, bank transfer or card.  Quote the INV- number as your payment reference. We share bank details securely and never print them on a proforma.

A Cutting For Approval is a cutting taken from the actual production batch and sent to you to approve the colour before the full order is cut.

About a week, depending on where you are, if the leather is in stock; they dispatch from our Italy warehouse.

Everything is warehoused and dispatched from Italy, by TNT or FedEx, with tracking sent once it’s on its way.

Yes, the Italy warehouse dispatches worldwide; freight and Incoterms are quoted per order.

It’s quoted per order, based on order weight and number of boxes.

90 days under our Terms of Sale. Please note freight pricing can change over time.

Yes, through our embossing service (about 3 weeks). We do everything embossed made-to-order.  Pick a leather, pick a pattern.

Embossed

With our own team and warehouse in Italy, we are best suited for custom colours and bespoke sourcing. With MOQ bands and around a 5-week production time. Send us the project and we’ll figure it out together.

Our protected (pigmented) ranges are made for high-traffic commercial, hospitality and contract projects  as they are more durable, stain-resistant and consistent.  ALL LEATHERS are durable, the question is really about your expectations of how the leather will wear in.

Some ranges carry IMO marine certification, inherent or by certificate. Marine is a case-by-case check, tell us the project and we’ll confirm.

Now you are getting creative.  Yes, for both. Tell us the application and we’ll steer you to a suitable finish (see our Patina to Protected guide).

Aniline (patina) is the most natural and often the softest.  It marks and develops character more readily as it receives the environment from the first time it is handled.  Protected leathers have a light pigment and coating for extra durability and a consistent look. Our Patina to Protected guide pairs like-for-like options.

Different leathers react differently, but in general, prolonged direct sunlight can fade leather, with hair-on ranges especially so.

Oh no!  Report any damage or shortage within 10 working days (non-delivery within 14 days of dispatch). We’re not responsible
for transit damage, so shipments should be insured; we’ll then review it with you.

In short, we do not take returns. Cut hides are definitely non-returnable.

Yes. Confirm the exact standard your project needs and we’ll check it against the leather and send the certificate.

All of our leathers are European sourced and European made.  Primarily Italy.
